We’ve got it all wrong. So much has changed and yet, so little has changed. Women over 50 are disappearing, becoming invisible. With age comes isolation, mixed messages and disappearing from the public view. Women over in their 40s and 50s and beyond feel unseen, unheard, unloved, irrelevant – aptly named “Invisible Woman Syndrome.”

For all that our mother’s wanted to be and couldn’t, for all that our grandmothers stuffed deep inside, and for all the love, innovation, freedom, peace, acceptance and leadership that could have come if we had found and used our voices.

For our daughters and granddaughters. And for the men who support us.

It is time to tap into our rage and find the courage to heal. To stop being invisible. To become who we were created to be – passionate and mission minded, unafraid to stand up for what we believe in, leaders in society, innovative and free to say how we feel, act as we wish, dress how we like, and show up as the amazing, aging, beautiful beings we are.

If we don’t see ourselves out there – how can we see ourselves in our own lives? And how can we teach it to our daughters and granddaughters,

Change is coming. The Revolution has begun.

Invisible Woman Syndrome, the social phenomenon where women in their 40s and S0s and beyond seemingly disappear from view, is affecting women of all walks of life. Once vibrant and involved, they are now looked over and ignored, as if they don’t exist. What is it about older women that makes them unpalatable – and why isn’t it the same for men? What can we, as older women, do about it?

Women are valuable at any age and we must begin using our voices to speak out if we are to be heard, recognized, and valued.
