STEAM Event on March 7 Exposes Students and Parents to STEAM Careers/Education In Our Area

On Thursday, March 7, 2019, about 200 students, parents and educators will attend the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Pathways Event at Binghamton University’s Innovative Technologies Complex.

The evening will be for youth (grades 7-12) and their parents, as well as educators and there is no cost to attend. It is our desired goal to increase awareness and interest in STEAM careers as well as provide information to youth and parents regarding the pathways needed to achieve these careers. Two separate break-out sessions for youth and parents, with a variety of speakers, will also take place.

This event will feature exhibits by local STEAM businesses/organizations including:

  • AgZeit
  • BAE Systems
  • Binghamton University
  • BOCES New Visions Engineering Academy
  • Delta Engineers, Architects, & Land Surveyors, DPC

Advancing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education is a critical focus for our region. We know firsthand the importance of educating young people in these fields. Our future success, and our nation’s technological advantage, depends on there being a reliable pool of highly trained and technically capable talent.

This event is sponsored by the Greater Binghamton Education Outreach Program (GBEOP), Eastern Southern Tier STEM HUB, School to Careers Partnership of Broome and Tioga Counties, Binghamton University and SUNY Broome.
