Committees/Task Forces

SBC Legislative Committee

The Legislative Committee membership is open to all Members of the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the Legislative Committee is to provide a forum to discuss timely issues that affect our business community on a local, state, and federal level. When the Legislative Committee takes a position, the recommendation is submitted to the Government Affairs Committee for further action.

SBC Committee

SBC is comprised of leadership of the various Chamber committees which meet monthly to discuss actions and initiatives in their respective committees.

Government Affairs Committee (GAC)

The Chamber’s GAC membership is Board of Directors-appointed and is comprised of members from diverse industries. This committee is responsible for reviewing and developing the Chamber’s Legislative Agenda and helping to guide the Chamber’s advocacy efforts by reviewing pending legislation and regulations that were submitted by recommendation of the Legislative Committee. When the GAC takes a position, the recommendation is submitted to the Board of Directors for further action.

Airport Advisory Committee

The purpose of the Airport Advisory Committee is to recommend policies regarding business air service at the Greater Binghamton Airport (BGM) to Broome County and the Commissioner of Aviation. In addition, the Airport Advisory Committee provides community awareness of airport operations, advises the county and BGM on issues involving planning, capital improvements, major contracts, and any other matters at the request of Broome County and the Commissioner of Aviation.

Economic Development Taskforce

The Economic Development Taskforce includes representatives from key private-sector economic engines and is focused on reinvigorating Greater Binghamton’s economic base through working collaboratively to identify the issues affecting the region’s economic vitality and sustainability. We develop action steps to change the current landscape of our region to one of growth.

Recognition and Awards Committee

Reviews applications and select winners for the Chamber’s Annual Spring and Fall Awards, including: Civic Leader, Small Business Person, Small Business Advocate, Volunteer, Young Professional (YP), Community Advocate and Corporate Citizen of the Year.

Membership Committee

Serves as official “ambassadors” at Chamber functions and focuses on outreach to existing members.
