Business Coalition Fights Healthcare Tax Increases
During a time when the State is facing a 6 billion dollar budget deficit, it is likely they will be seeking to raise revenue. Speaker of the Assembly Carl Heastie has already stated that raising revenue to fix the budget gap is what Albany lawmakers do best. If this budget deficit tell us anything it is that the state has a spending problem and not a revenue problem. The economy is humming and folks are optimistic about their economic future.
A group of business organizations, including the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce, are fighting to insure that additional taxes are not added into your healthcare premiums. Health Care Reform Act (HCRA) taxes are largely a hidden tax that increases the cost of insurance premiums.
