COUGHLIN & GERHART, LLP
99 Corporate Drive | Binghamton, NY 13904
P.O. Box 2039 | Binghamton, NY 13902-2039
Changes to New York’s sexual harassment laws, require that all employers—regardless of size—have sexual harassment policies and provide interactive training that complies with New York’s revised laws. Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP’s Labor & Employment Law Practice Group, which represents private and public sector employers throughout New York, is currently providing compliant sexual harassment training to large and small employee groups. In addition, C&G’s L&E team provides specialized sexual harassment training to supervisors and others members of the client’s management team.
While a client’s training needs may vary, C&G proposes to review a client’s current sexual harassment policy, customize training materials for the client and provide a one-hour block of live interactive training for Binghamton-area clients for the sum of $750.00. Additional blocks of training are available at an additional cost. Travel charges for non-Binghamton locations may apply and remote training options are available. For those who wish to retain the firm, C&G is able to answer a client’s’ questions on compliance and the best practices to avoid claims on a retainer or hourly fee basis.
C&G, a Binghamton law firm consisting of over 55 attorneys with branch offices in Owego, Ithaca, Cortland, Bainbridge, Hancock, Walton and Montrose, PA, is rated “AV Preeminent®” through the Martindale-Hubbell® and is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a “Tier 1” law firm in its Best Lawyers®–”Best Law Firms” regional ranking in a number of practice areas. C&G’s L&E practice group is chaired by Paul J. Sweeney, Esq., who is rated “AV Preeminent”® by Martindale-Hubbell® and has been named for inclusion in the Best Lawyers® and the Upstate Edition of the New York Super Lawyers publications. He is also a vetted member of the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel and edits BLR’s New York Employment Law Letter, a monthly publication that helps employers understand new laws, regulations and court cases.

We provide several options for employers for anti-harassment training. All of our training covers not only preventing sexual harassment in the workplace but also preventing harassment and discrimination on any basis. We are available to help employers draft policies, create complaint procedures, and develop complaint forms.
Option #1-Individualized Training
We provide individualized programs for employee training and supervisors training. These programs can be conducted in person or via webinar. We discuss with employers the number of sessions they need, and customize them to the employer’s work place. We have received a great deal of praise for our programs.
Supervisor Only Training
For employers who already have an option for general employee training (such as through their insurance companies), we provide training for supervisors that includes topics such as intervention training, handling complaints, advanced retaliation training, documentation, managing performance and discipline, and sticky issues for supervisors. Employers should understand that the greatest risk in their workplace is poorly training front-line supervisors. Their greatest defense to a claim is well-trained supervisors and managers.
We provide these services on a flat fee basis, meaning employers know the cost up front.
Option #2-Small Group Sessions
For small employers (less than 17 employees), we provide group trainings at a low price. These trainings are scheduled at our offices or via webinar. We can be contacted for a schedule of trainings and the cost for these programs.
Option #3-Downloadable Program
Coming in April, we will also have recorded programs that can be downloaded for employee training and supervisory training. These programs will allow an employer to conduct training at their own time and pace, but will require the employer to facilitate the interactive questions portion of the training requirement.
